pliance CT - weight bearing foot pressure measurement during CT scan and MRI

Over the last years we have developed a CT-compatible weight-bearing pressure measurement system that can be used inside the CT gantry during standing and even slow walking. The system uses a completely new sensor and electronics design that does not create artefacts and allows time-synchronized plantar pressure maps and CT images. To our knowledge, there is currently no comparable commercial solution.

For over 40 years, these innovative sensors have set the benchmark as the gold standard in research. Their unmatched accuracy, durability, and versatility have earned them global recognition among scientists and engineers. Today, they continue to define excellence, supporting cutting-edge discoveries and high-performance applications.

Clinical perspective:

Utilizing pliance CT system opens up new possibilities in:

  • deformity analysis and surgical planning (hindfoot, midfoot, ankle),
  • assessment of complex post-traumatic conditions and implants under load,
  • early detection and monitoring in the diabetic / neuropathic foot,
  • research on alignment, cartilage loading and outcome prediction.

Business perspective

The solution is designed as a high-value add-on to existing CT systems, with:

  • attractive margin per unit (specialized hardware, software and calibration),
  • recurring revenue potential via service, software options and updates (e.g. AI-based pattern analysis / risk scoring in the next step),
  • clear differentiation of weight-bearing CT offerings in a growing niche of musculoskeletal imaging.
